Slashing Costs and Raising Standards in an Industry Ripe for Disruption

It’s not often that we feel the need to prod a stick but let’s be honest,  the construction industry has a reputation problem and we feel it needs to be discussed.

Bloated budgets. Missed deadlines. Poor communication. “That’s just how construction works,” they say.

We don’t buy it, and neither should clients.

At Manton Property, we’re not just managing projects we’re challenging the outdated assumptions that have plagued construction for decades. It’s time to demand more. Tighter cost control, cleaner execution, and client service that doesn’t vanish the moment the ribbon is cut.

The Cost Problem – A Self-Inflicted Wound

Too many construction firms treat cost overruns like a weather report, unpredictable and out of their control. But the truth? Most of those overruns are avoidable.

We approach cost-saving differently:

  • No more guesswork. From day one, we build tight budgets backed by data, not wishful thinking.
  • No more fluff. Value engineering is not a buzzword—it’s how we kill waste without compromising design or function.
  • No more chaos. Real-time cost tracking, integrated planning, and digital project control means we course-correct early—before the spend spirals.

The industry tolerates inefficiency because “it’s always been done this way.” We don’t. And our clients thank us for it.

Service – Where the Industry Still Fails Miserably

Ask most clients what working with a construction firm is like, and you’ll hear words like: “opaque,” “slow,” and “unresponsive.” Somewhere along the way, service became an afterthought in construction.

We think that’s insane.

Here’s our approach:

  • Responsiveness isn’t optional. Our project managers don’t disappear when things get tough—they lean in, stay available, and solve problems fast.
  • Clarity is king. We overcommunicate, not under-deliver. Our clients know exactly what’s happening, when, and why.
  • No surprises, ever. Bad news travels fast—and when it does, we’re already working on the fix. Transparency isn’t a bonus; it’s the foundation of trust.

We serve like our reputation depends on it—because it does.

Why the Industry Hates Change (and Why We Love It)

Legacy firms are comfortable. They sell the same playbook over and over, banking on clients who don’t know they have a choice. We’re the alternative.

We embrace tech, demand accountability, and build leaner, smarter teams. We don’t just track KPIs—we hit them. Where others see obstacles, we see opportunity.

We’re not here to play by the rules. We’re here to rewrite them.

If you’re tired of the status quo—of contractors who overpromise and underperform—talk to us. We’re not the biggest. We’re not the loudest. But we are the firm that clients call when they want results, not excuses.

Construction doesn’t have to be messy, slow, or over budget. It just needs better leadership, smarter systems, and a team that gives a damn.

Welcome to the new standard. We’re just getting started.

Slashing Costs and Raising Standards in an Industry Ripe for Disruption

Philip Shaw, Manton Property

Philip leads commercial growth, marketing and professional relationships at Manton, working across the firm’s advisory, project management and residential security services.

Before joining Manton, he co-founded Savernake Knives, where he led marketing, partnerships and business development. His earlier career included London hospitality, safari operations in East Africa and country operations for Adam Smith International in South Sudan and Pakistan.

Those roles gave him direct experience of operational risk, security planning and intelligence-led decision making in complex environments. At Manton, Philip applies that background to the firm’s growth, reputation and position as a trusted adviser to private clients, families and professional introducers.

The detail varies. The role does not.
